Jacqueline Karas

Jacqueline A. Karas passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at her home, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. Jacqueline was born June 8, 1929 in Roswell, to Faye and Frank Hendrick. She was a graduate of Roswell High School and Roswell Business College. Jacqueline was a valuable secretary for E.F. Hutton; O.E. Anderson Oil and she set up the filing system for New Mexico Plastics, when it was beginning in Roswell. Jacqueline was in the Civil Service for Department of Defense at Cannon Air Force Base and Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. She was often asked to oversee parties and celebrations when she worked for the military. Jacqueline was interested in the Roswell Little Theater and was a talented designer, seamstress and home decorator, she helped design ball gowns that she wore herself. She was a beautiful and vivacious person and when asked what she did in school, she often said “I laughed and danced and talked and sang.” She will be missed by friends and family. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Roswell Home Care and Hospice who gave her such good care, the caregivers and staff of Community Home Care, especially Elia Serna, Tammy Bragg and Bonney Schnieder who cared for her and loved her too. Special thanks to the Family Medical Residency, Dr. Vaillant, Dr. Wolf, Dr. Kondula and Charles Shannon of Primm Drugs. Jacqueline is survived by two sisters; Shirley J. Franco of Roswell, Barbara O. Peterson and her husband David, of Silver City. Although Jacqueline had no children, she shared and loved all her nieces and nephews; niece, Stephanie H. Kinney and her husband Mikel M., of Roswell and their children; Jessica Hollis Parson and her husband, Stephen of Anaheim, CA., and Mikel David and his wife, Zana of Roswell, nephew; Charles W. Franco and his wife Cindy, and their children, Christopher Franco and James Manley of Marysville, CA., neice, Daria Wilson and her husband, Kevin of Albuquerque and their children, Alyson and Dylan, neice, Kelly Bruce and her husband Greg ,of Albuquerque, and their children, Steven, Adam and Jason, nephew; Michael N. Maloney and his son Joseph, of Long Barn, CA., nephew, Gary P. Maloney and his wife Deborah, of Oakhill, CA. and their children, Cheryl Mosely and her husband Christopher of Victorville, CA., Michael James Maloney and his wife Kerry of Hesperia, CA., Darrel Maloney, of Oakhill, CA., nephew, James Maloney and his wife Ruth, of Colorado Springs and their children, Elizabeth, Joanna, Robert and George. There are numerous great grand nieces and nephews in Jacqueline’s extended family. She was preceded in death by her mother; Alta Faye Hendrick, (2002) her father; Frank O. Hendrick, (1938) her grandmother; Josephine S. Hall, one sister; Alta Colleen Maloney, (2006) and one uncle; Vernon N. Williams, (1978).
