Jesus Flores Arpero December 23,1954 - January 7, 2025 Jesus Flores Arpero passed away in Lubbock, Texas January 7, 2025, due to complications of Scleroderma. He is no longer suffering and is at peace. Jesus was born to Manuela and Ramon Flores Arpero in Chihuahua, Mexico, on December 23, 1954. He was one of 5-6 siblings. At an early age, he worked the fields and sacked groceries to help support his family. At the age of 18, Jesus came to the United States and began a lifelong career in Roswell as a groundskeeper. He started his journey in the Hondo Valley working for Cynthia Price, caring for the gardens at Tinnie Mercantile before coming down to Roswell, where he was employed at Carpenter Nursery for over 25 years. He learned landscaping, planting, and lawn care skills that he has applied throughout his life. After Carpenter's closed, he was employed by Rex, Laverne Smith, and Mr. Duane Green on the Sunset property. Jesus continued to work on the estate for Morris Schertz until he retired in 2023. He was also a lifelong friend and employee of Martin Torrez. Jesus was punctual, organized, and meticulous regarding lawn care. He never complained and valued work as a priority in his life. He was always available for moving furniture, lifting, or odd job requests. He was respectful and even-tempered and an excellent employee with a quiet presence that will be greatly missed. Jesus was domestic and took pride in caring for his home, lawn, and plants. He liked cooking and making homemade tortillas and Mexican stew. He enjoyed his morning coffee and reading the Roswell Daily Record, collecting calendars and watches, and playing Bingo and the lottery. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed being in the company of those he cared for. Most of all, Jesus loved his family; he lost his mother at a very young age but often spoke of his father, who lived to be 90, and his brothers and sisters, who he enjoyed visiting in Mexico on his vacations. During his early years in Roswell, he was married to Demetria Flores, who preceded him in death. He was a stepfather to her four children: Joanna Serna, Phillip Jaramillo, Debbie Jaramillo, and Alfred Jaramillo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuela and Ramon Flores Arpero, his sister Natividad Flores, his wife, Demetria Flores, and stepson Phillip Jaramillo. He is survived by his sisters, brother, brother-in-law, nephews and nieces, Delores Baca Flores, Ramona Flores Arpero, Manuel Flores Arpero, Elviro and Abel Orona, Leslie Orona, and many other nieces and nephews. Jesus will be laid to rest on his mother's grave in Mexico.
