Mary Louise Garcia

Mary Louise Garcia, 95, passed away September 19, 2023 in Roswell, New Mexico. There will be a viewing at Anderson Bethany funeral Home on Tuesday October 3, 2023 from 9am-2pm. Funeral Services to follow from 2pm-5pm with Pastor Sergio Tirado officiating. Interment will be held at South Park Cemetery on Thursday October 5, 2023 at 10:00 am. On October 9, 1927 Mary Louise Garcia (Lecha) was born to Vincte and Sylvestra Barrera in Ladero, Texas. Mary was the beloved wife of deceased Elfin Garcia. They were happily married for many years. She was a member of Church on the Move and Tabernacle Babtist Church both of Roswell, New Mexico. Prior to retirement she gave thirty-seven wonderful years of service to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Roswell as a housekeeper. She was a hard worker and put her heart into all that she did. She was a kind hearted soul with a bit of a jokester in her, Mary thought it was funny scaring people on Halloween. She really enjoyed going thrift shopping and to yard sales. Spanish and Cristian music was what she listened to most. Not only did Mary have a green thumb that made her an excellent gardener, she was an outstanding cook and baker, with chocolate pecan cake and jello as some of her staple items to bake. Mary accomplished many things in her lifetime but one of her greatest and most cherished accomplishments was her family. She not only loved her kids, but all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. Mary was so much more than beautiful, she was a protector, giver, faithful, strong willed, smart, jokester, big hearted women who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Those left to eternally cherish and treasure memories of Mary are her children: Betty Garcia Gamboa, Eva Garcia Villarreal and husband Pedro Villarreal, Esther Garcia, Frankie Garcia, and wife Denna Garcia; thirty grandchildren; one hundred and one great-grandchildren; forty-three great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Tillie Madrid and Margaret Sanchez; beloved pet Chatito. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Elfin Garcia; children: Elfin Jr Garcia, Benny Garcia, Angie Garcia, Gloria Garcia Sedillo, Sally Garcia Bara, Beatrice Garcia Medrano; sons-in law, Alfred Gamboa, Ray Bara, and Richard Medrano; grandchildren: Angel Raye Dutchover, Alex Garcia, Sabrina Garcia, Charles Benjam Jr. Dutchover, Baby Dutchover; parents: Sylvestra and Vincte Barrera; siblings: Bobby Barrera, Johnny Barrera, Cruz Barrera, Jesse Sisneros, Luz Montoya, Nancy Silvia, and Lupe Nieto, Those blessed to serve as honorary pallbearers are Rudy Sedillo Jr, Ricky Medran, Larry Dutchover, Chris Marquez, Michael Angel Garcia, Pedro (P.J) Villarreal, Benjamin Garcia Lang, and BJ Canales. The family would like to give a special thanks to Church on the Move, and to all those who have given food, money, love, prayers, donations, and flowers. Mary’s tribute was lovingly written by her family. Serenity Prayer God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. Courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
