Stephen Gonzales

Stephen Michael Gonzales (1994-2023), son, brother, and friend, was taken from our lives too soon when he passed away on October 16, 2023, in Kansas City, MO. Mikey was born in Roswell, NM, and grew up in Northwest Arkansas with his little sister Lily for most of his life. He graduated from Rogers High School and continued his education at Pittsburg State University, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in manufacturing engineering technology, as well as becoming a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. After graduating college, he moved to Kansas City, MO, where he continued to work and live. Although his life was cut short, Mikey was beloved by all who knew him for his contagious smile, kindness, heart of gold, and uncanny ability to make everyone laugh. He showed each and every one of us that life was something to enjoy and he lived his life to the fullest. Mikey loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and hanging in a hammock. He loved cheering on his favorite sports teams and was a diehard Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. He greatly enjoyed being surrounded by his friends and dogs. Mikey was blessed to have had such an amazing supportive family, girlfriend, and group of friends– many whom he had known since high school –and his fraternal brothers he met in college. He is survived by his mother, Melissa Harris of Northwest Arkansas; sister, Lily Harris of Northwest Arkansas; cousin Larry & wife Spencer Pineda, of Northwest Arkansas; half-brother, Gary Larez of Carlsbad, NM; girlfriend, Stefanie Nentrup of Kansas City, MO; dogs: Elsa & Nacho of Kansas City, MO. maternal grandparents: Luis & Socorro Pineda of Roswell, NM; paternal grandparents: Steve & Betty Gonzales of Roswell, NM; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Steve Gonzales Jr. of Roswell, NM. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home & Crematory located at 2609 South Main Roswell, NM 88203. Interment to follow at South Park Cemetary. Mikey’s tribute was lovingly written by his family.
