Steven Ben Archuleta Sr.

A rosary will be recited with a mass to follow for Steven Ben Archuleta, Sr. 64, of Roswell, at 1:30 pm Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at St. John’s Catholic Church with Deacon Ernesto Martinez officiating. Burial to follow in South Park Cemetery. Steven passed away on August 2, 2013 in Lubbock, TX. Military services will be provided by the Roswell Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Tuesday, 8 am – 8pm and Wednesday, 8 am – 12 pm at the funeral home. Steven was born March 10, 1949 to Adenago Archuleta and Erlinda Najar Archuleta in Roswell, NM. He married Kathy Vega Archuleta on September 26, 1970 and was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. He came to Roswell, NM thirty-eight years ago coming from Carrizozo, NM. He was in the United States Army for two years while serving in Vietnam then continued his career in the New Mexico National Guard and retired serving twenty-seven years. He enjoyed playing pool and was a pool shark at the Roswell Adult Center. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the Casino but most of all spending time with his granddaughters, Isabella and Santana. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Kathy of the family home; his children, Stephanie Quiroz and her husband, Sonny, Sylvia Herrera and her fiancé Julio, Elizabeth Chavez and her husband, Chris, Steven Archuleta, Jr. and his fiancé April Baca-Salas, Max and his fiancé Maggie Murrillo and Karol Archuleta; his sister, Georgia Ortiz; his grandchildren, Chris, Daniel, Manny, Alyssa, Joshua, Aliath, Jonathan, Arria, Steven III, Jessica, Noah, Nickolas, Jordan, Jarrod, and his two special sweet hearts, Isabella and Santana; great-granddaughter, Lillyanna Herrera; two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adenago and Erlinda Archuleta, his brother, Ricky Najar, son-in-law, Paul Herrera and his best friend, Henry Jose Garcia. Pallbearers will be Christopher, Daniel, Manuel ( Manny), Joshua, Jonathan ( JP), Aliath and Steven III ( Doogers). So we lost our father today!! However, we all have the one greatest thing he could have ever given us and that is Mom! Sure we all have different thoughts, opinions and emotions of how we take this but he was our DAD ! And I think we all got something from him in which we will cherish and take from him. Steph, you got his love and passion for the kitchen. Sylvia, his love for gambling. Liz, you have his love for the military and the life it brings you. Steven, to be just like him whether good or bad. Myself, (Max) I got his style, when he was looking sharp in his white shirt, black pants and shined shoes, and of course to be a mommas boy! Karol to be the baby of the family with his smile and loud personality. We all will take what he has given us and hold our heads up high knowing we all have a piece of him !! We Love You Dad!!
